The Tip Project
During Covid I discovered an Edwardian rubbish tip deep in a local but inaccessible wood. I was intrigued by the beauty of the decomposing leaves against the rust covered but coloured appliances and glass and pottery that had been partially buried there years before. I spent many hours in quite treacherous conditions amongst the “rubbish” photographing the objects and decided to apply for my RPS Fellowship with a panel of 21 prints. I did not meet the required standard but enjoyed both the challenges of the location and photographing the artefacts as well as the experience of the assessment. Herewith some images together with my layout and statement of Intent. I was advised to enter this under the Contemporary genre.
